According to its vision and mission, the centre has taken up a number of activities fulfilling academic and research needs of the country and advancement of knowledge in disaster mitigation. They include the followings. One of the major activities of the Center will be running post-graduate program in disaster mitigation (M.Tech in Earthquake Engineering); providing opportunities for research in the area leading to Ph.D.; presently the focus is on earthquake engineering but in future multi-hazard disaster mitigation will be taken up namely disaster due to cyclone, landslides, blast and fire, tsunamis.

• Ph. D. (Earthquake Engineering)
  Program Objective: Advanced level Training and Research for Earthquake Safety (Analysis-Behavior-Design) of Civil Engineering Structures, which is, Buildings, Bridges and Dams. The work involve both experimental and computer simulation.
• The activities of the center include experimental and analytical research & development and Outreach (i.e. training) for both academic as well as practitioners.
