The two-year full-time MBA program is the flagship program of the institute. The program aims to develop social and ethically oriented management professionals equipped to face changes in modern business organizations.
Specifically, the stated program objectives are:
With this end in view, the program is designed to include courses of study, seminars, projects, and thesis submission through which a student may develop his concepts and intellectual skills. Faculty members act as curators of knowledge and facilitators for its dissemination rather than just instructors. Multiple co-curricular and extra-curricular events are organized by faculty and students during the academic sessions.
PedagogyThe institute believes that self-learning is the best means of learning, especially at the post-graduation level, and accordingly, faculty should act as facilitators more than teachers. Teaching is heavily oriented towards case studies, presentations, and assignments. A variety of seminars are organized by faculty and students during the academic sessions.
The structure and curriculum of the MBA program result from continuous interaction between faculty, industry, and alumni. Apart from regular effort in making the course and its content relevant, the entire program structure goes through periodic evaluation with participation from various stakeholders to keep up with the changing industry requirements.
The current program structure is divided into four semesters spread over two academic years:
- During the first academic year, the students are rigorously grounded in the conceptual foundations of business theory and knowledge with exposure to compulsory core courses.
- Third semester onwards, in addition to specific compulsory core courses, students are offered the choice to major in a stream by choosing area electives from that stream. Currently, the department offers five areas to choose from – Marketing, Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, Operations, and Business Analytics.
The students can choose an additional minor stream or opt from a bouquet of open electives from General Management & Strategy or any other relevant PG electives offered by other Departments as open electives. Each academic session is assigned a Program Advisor as a mentor to facilitate students in their academic program.
We believe that real-life exposure to business is mandatory for the learning of young management trainees. Internships, courses of independent study, and projects are thus an integral part of the curriculum.
