The multidisciplinary field- Sustainable Construction and management is my research interest. Therefore, each research idea focuses at the interface of Construction and sustainability engineering. My Research and academic work aim to explore and promote- Sustainable/Eco-friendly construction and management practices; the application of Life Cycle Assessment in assessing the sustainability of material and construction technology; management of construction and demolition waste and its circularity; use of Informatics/BIM technology in supporting sustainable construction and management; the infusion of resource efficiency, circularity and sustainability principles in Construction engineering/management education and practices.

2021-2022 | Research | Waste to Resource and Sustaianble Construction Lab | Waste to resource and sustainable construction lab is established in the department of Civil Engineering. In addition to providing a dedicated working area for UG/PG/PHD academic and research activities towards sustainable construction, the lab converted available Construction and Demolition debris in campus into useful products like Interlocking tiles etc. for parking, footpath, and park areas. | The lab facility includes a building and material handling spaces for its operation. It has equipment for converting construction debris into aggregates, manufacturing of bricks and interlocking tiles, and sustainability evaluation of these products.Recently, around 140,000 tiles were produced incorporating CD waste, and approx. 32,000 were used to construct a pathway of approx. 300 m length and 3.5 m wide on campus. The construction debris was also used for making the bed of the pathway. This project resulted in consumption of approx. 60-65 ton of construction debris on the campus. In future, the lab will be strengthened by expanding its research and product performance testing activities, by adding equipment and software for supporting sustainable construction practices and Informatics through academic and industrial collaboration for similar concepts. |
